Rooted Membership is an alternative choice for families who would like a relationship with Homegrown via phone calls and text service.

 

This membership does not include

telemedicine visits or in person visits

(however those visits can be purchased separately).

With a Rooted Membership, you will have Dr. Kate at your fingertips. You can text or call for advice. 

​

For example:

Parent: "Hello Dr. Kate! Caleb has a fever of 104 and I'm not sure how to handle. Should I take him in to be evaluated or just watch and wait?" 

Dr. Kate: "Poor guy! First question - has Caleb had a prior illness, for instance congestion or cough, in the last 2 weeks? Second question - When you treated his fever with Motrin or Tylenol, did he perk up?  Third question - Is he eating or drinking?"

Parent: "Cold last week. Seemed to be getting better than fever started. Fussy. Motrin helped. Eating and Drinking ok." 

​

Dr. Kate: "Given his symptoms last week, I would be concerned that this could be an ear infection or pneumonia and would recommend making an appt with his pediatrician today or tomorrow."

​

Dr. Kate: "His Motrin dose is 5ml in order to maximize his comfort. Remember this first 48 hrs of fever is always the hardest and it's ok to treat the fever. Push fluids."

Parent: "Thank you so much. I will make an appt for him now."

​

(2 hrs later)

​

Parent: "Thank you again! He had an ear infection and we are on antibiotics. I really appreciate you."

​

Dr. Kate: "Most welcome! Please reach out if you have any other questions/concerns."

​

Another example: 

​

Parent: "Hi Dr. Kate. Elijah has a fever for the past 5 days and is not acting like himself. He's very tired. I'm not sure if UC is the right move but I'm worried. The other kids are not sick."

Dr. Kate: (knowing she has 5 kids and that one child with a fever is typically not viral) "It definitely sounds like you need an appointment. UC is fine but I have an opening tomorrow at 1pm if you would like to come my office. We can assess and figure out next steps."
